New Years

Over vacation, I didn't get to work on my bracelets a lot because I had to follow my parents to go see my relatives. We often dined out with our extended family. I decided not to bring my project with me because we're not very close and it would be very awkward if I had to repeatedly explain what I'm doing to all of my curious cousins, aunts, and uncles.

I did work on some when I got home. I tried to finish my first bracelets, but they look weird with the lobster clips. Everything seemed better on Youtube, but at least I tried.

It's Here!!

I finally got the stuff in the mail. It's about time! They took a long time to get here, but it's just on time for Christmas. I guess it's reasonable since it was free shipping. I'm probably just an impatient person. Now that I have my disk, I can do more with the bracelets since my DIY ones keep breaking and bending.

This week I haven't done much either. I only finished the red and black one, but I didn't tie them together.

No Mail

I still haven't gotten my order and the shipping is not very specific. It seems like it's still in China right now. I'm still using my makeshift disk and made an incomplete bracelet this week. It's red and black like our school colors. I guess I have a tendency to not finish the bracelets, but I still don't know how I should end them without the lobster clasps.

Week 3

My order still haven't arrived yet, so I'm still watching videos on Youtube to use as a guide. I also discovered a few Facebook groups for braiding kumihimo bracelets. Hopefully, if I need any help, I can consult with them because I don't know anyone else who makes these bracelets in real life. So far, I think Youtube is good enough, but I think the tutorials may seem easy, while they're actually hard to do. I really hope that's not the case, but only time will tell.

I also didn't know that my blog wasn't posted so I failed big time...

WIP

Recently in the past week, I have been super busy.
Homework was overwhelming so I didn't have the chance to work on my bracelets.

Instead of making them, I focused more on watching more videos of people's progress and other materials that I can use to make them. Since my lobster clasps and kumihimo disk have not arrived yet, there isn't much that I can do. eBay takes forever to ship, I hope I will see them by the end of this month. In the meantime, I found out that satin cords can be used and they look really stunning in the videos. Maybe I'll order some of them too, but I'll have to see what my mom have to say about them.

The Beginning

Hello!

This is the beginning of my kumihimo journey. :D

About 3 weeks ago, I ordered a bundle of embroidery floss and it finally came 3 days ago.
I ordered 300 of them off eBay because it wasn't that expensive ($20) and normally they cost 85 cents per floss. The only drawback is that there are no repeated colors since they're all random. I guess it's alright because the different colors will make them more unique.

I'm still waiting for kumihimo disk, so I had to make one myself. I made it by printing off a template online in the school library and gluing it to a part of a plastic folder. It's not the sturdiest thing to use, but it'll have to do for now.

With my makeshift disk, I started braiding the floss by following simple tutorials on Youtube, but they look awful because I don't have the proper tools to end them. My first bracelet looks the worst because it still has loose ends dangling around. I'm still in the process of learning how to braid them, so they're definitely not perfect.

After watching more tutorials on Youtube, I found many different methods to end my bracelets. I bought several lobster clips on eBay, so I'll wait for its arrival before I finish my other bracelets.
